As you can now set up the routing of non-geographic 0800 numbers to mobile telephones, this has opened up new possibilities to entice potential new customers to contact you first.
Many organisations are now choosing to give there new business customer facing staff an 0800 or 0808 number, this has been proved to increase the chances of a potential customer calling you and you would normally be very happy to talk to new customers at your cost anyway.
You would welcome the opportunity to talk to them at your cost for the call so why not reverse the tables and give yourself an advantage.
The perception to a new client of calling you on your mobile but at no cost can simply give you an edge on the competition.
Many small businesses now operate with primarily using mobile phones, however whilst available much of the time a mobile number may be more prone to change than a land line, especially if a business is sold or a mobile is lost or stolen. Many businesses also restrict who is given a mobile number as the main business telephone number to prevent casual interruption of key employees.
As a consequence telephone messages build up and so can the cost and time associated with returning calls. Sometimes new business enquirers may even be lost because of this time delay.
Please note that all 0800/0808/0845/0844 numbers terminating directly to a mobile telephone cannot show the number of the calling party.
Routing calls using an 0800, 0808, 0845 or 0844 number can remove many of these problems and can open up new possibilities in the management of sales staff. For example, you can set calls to ring only to one mobile phone number: for a single permanent freephone contact or to a 24 hour 'duty' phone - excellent for strategically important clients or contracts.
It has been proven that people are more likely to respond to an advert if the 'call to action' is simply dialling a freephone number.
Unfortunately this service (transfer to mobile abroad) is not currently available and the telephone network operators advise us, that no plans exist to introduce this service due to the high risks associated with routing calls to non UK mobile telephone networks.
